If you are sending an Announcement to a group of people who have limited access to logging in and viewing your Announcement, the following guidance will ensure that your message gets across most effectively!
Important Notes About Your Audience
- By default, staff have their notification preferences set to Email + App. Guardians, on the other hand, can be set to have the default of either SMS + App or Email + App, depending on the district’s decision. To change their default notification preference, a user must log in to the app and select a new preference through their Settings.
- Staff can see a user’s preference by navigating to the user profile in the directory. Learn more here.
- Knowing your audience’s default notification preferences can help as you make decisions about how you prepare your Announcement.
Creating an Announcement Best Suited for Recipients with Limited Access
- Start a new Announcement and select your audience, then go to your Announcement Settings.
- Turn on Public Broadcast. This will ensure the Announcement can be viewed by anyone without the need to log in to access the contents.
- Turn on Priority Announcements. This will ensure the message goes to all recipients in all methods of communication they have associated with their account - email/phone, and/or in-app notifications.
- Do you want it to be reply-able? Turn on Email and SMS Replies
- Do you want folks who can log in to comment? Turn on Comments
- Do you want to send a pre-recorded message as a phone call as part of your Announcement? Turn on Voice Broadcast and record your message
