Enabling Student Accounts

With SchoolStatus Connect, Admins and Staff members can alert students about important updates via SMS. This can be done once the student's user account is enabled. This article will explain how you can enable a Student User.

💡 Notes:

1. It is possible to communicate with students if their accounts are enabled. A student with an enabled account is called a Student User. There are manual and automated ways to enable student accounts. 
2. Student Users will have their own comms preferences, similar to adult users. They will have Email+app, SMS+app, and App only. Email+app is the default preference. 
3. Student phone numbers will come from SIS. It will not be possible to enter them manually.
4. Student Users will receive the new message SMS (which will be replyable) ONLY IF their comms preference is set to SMS+app.
5. Student Users will receive the New Announcement SMS if it is sent as Priority, or if their preference is SMS+app.

Enabling/Activating Student Accounts

You can enable/activate student accounts via the Directory.

1. From your Homepage, click on Directory.
2. Select which families you want to enable by searching their names or selecting all families.
3. Click on Actions.
4. Click Enable Student Accounts.

Invite your students to join Connect

Students do not automatically receive invites when you Enable Student Accounts. They are required to accept the invitation and join Connect once their account is enabled. See below or click here for the step-by-step guide.

Filter for Invited or Active Students

1. From the Directory page

2. Click on Filter

   

3. Scroll to the Student Account Status section

4. Apply the filter to show results

Student Log In

After enabling the Student Account and sending an invitation, the student will receive an email asking them to join SchoolStatus Connect. The student needs to take two easy steps.

1. Click Join Now from the email invite.
2. Create a password and click Join.

That’s it! The student is now ready to communicate with his/her teacher on SchoolStatus Connect.
