SchoolStatus two-way Conversation notifications can be delivered to recipients in multiple channels, including SMS text messaging. There is no limit to how long a Conversation can be. However, when a Conversation notification is delivered via SMS text messaging:
- Up to 300 characters are viewable directly in the text message.
- Messages that exceed 300 characters will generate a link for the user to be automatically redirected to view the entire message in the app, where the user may be prompted to login.
Pro Tip: If you would like to avoid recipients from needing to login to view the full message, it is recommended that each individual message is kept to a 300 or fewer character limit.
A character counter is available within the Conversation module in the Connect platform. A reminder message will also appear when you have exceeded the 300 character limit as a reminder that the recipient will need to view the full message within the Connect portal.
Note: If the user has both email and SMS contact, the default notification method would be via email.
If notifications are not successfully sent to the preferred channel, the system will use the alternative method. For example, if the user's email inbox is full and the notifications are not delivered successfully, the system will send the notifications to SMS.Once the issue behind the failed emails is resolved, and the user’s email status is reset either by the user or by Connect support, the system will revert back to sending communications via the preferred channel - email.
