Users who create Conversations can stop them at any time. Stopping a Conversation is considered a best practice in situations where the discussion has concluded, such as after planning an event or resolving an issue, or when the Conversation includes multiple participants (for example, 5 or more users).
As long as a Conversation remains active, participants can continue replying to the thread at any time, even if the Conversation has been archived. This can sometimes lead to confusion or restart discussions that are no longer relevant.
When a Conversation is stopped, participants can still view all previous messages, but they can no longer send new replies in that thread. This article provides the steps to stop a private message thread.
How to Stop a Conversation
(1) Go to your classroom
(2) Click the message button on the upper right
(3) Open the Conversation you want to Stop
(4) Once the conversation generates, click on the 3 black dots
(5) Choose stop
(6)A pop-up message will then ask you if you wish to confirm the action, which you can either Cancel or Stop Conversation
**On there, it should also ask you if you wish to archive the conversation for you.
Note: Stopping the conversation doesn’t mean the parent/guardian is blocked. Depending on the “Parents can initiate conversations” setting, the parent may or may not be able to start a new conversation anymore. Please see this article to learn more about it.
Note: You can always start a new conversation with the parent/guardian as usual.
