Looking to track the engagement rates of a specific newsletter? Each newsletter you create has its own specific analytics that you can track. This article will explain the different types of analytics that are tracked and where to find the reports.
How to check the analytics
1. To check the analytics of a newsletter, open the Show Author page
2. Click View Analytics
The Analytics Overview
Once you click Analytics you will open up into an Overview of all Analytics.
You will be able to see:
- Total views - The total number of times your newsletter has opened.
- Sources - The funnels through which your newsletter has been accessed.
- Interactions -How many viewers have opened outgoing sources within your newsletter.
- Devices- On what device the newsletter has been viewed on.
- Average time reading - How long on average a newsletter is viewed for.
Note: Every single visit is counted as a unique view. This means if one person opens the newsletter a few times, each time they open it counts towards the total views.
To look at any analytic in more detail you can click the appropriate button in the navigation bar.
Locations
To check where in the word your newsletter has been viewed click Locations in the navigation bar.
There are two views you can use. The page will open up with a visual view of a map, or you can toggle to the list in order to see the countries in a list format.
Interactions
To check how many times each Button, Video, Attachment or Link has been clicked you can either:
- Click on the specific interaction in the Analytics overview.
- Hover over the navigation bar and click on Interactions
Here you will see each link/button/video listed and how many times they have been opened/clicked on.
Note: Each individual click counts as 1. Therefore even if the same person clicks on a link multiple times, each time they click will count towards the total number of clicks.
Polls
To find the results of a poll you have included in your newsletter, hover over the navigation bar and click on Polls. This will immediately show you how many people responded to your poll question.
The winning vote will have a trophy to the left of it.
Note: The results of the poll will show you how many people chose each option but will not specify who chose each option.
Traffic Sources
To see how your readers found the newsletter hover over the navigation bar and click on Traffic Sources. Here you will have a list of the different traffic sources used and the corresponding number of visits via this specific traffic source.
Types of Traffic Sources:
1.Direct
Visitors that view a newsletter directly by opening the newsletter’s URL link.
In some cases, to protect privacy, apps might "disguise" visits to look like direct visits. This hides which app the user was using. Some direct visits to your newsletters might be because users came from apps. These apps might include email apps and social network apps.
2. Smore
Visitors that view a newsletter via another Smore newsletter. For example, if you embed from within the Smore network of newsletters are classified as "Smore" visits.
3. Mass Notification
Visitors that view and open a newsletter via your connect feed.
RSVP’s
To check who has RSVP’d to your event, hover over the navigation bar and click on RSVPS
A list of your RSVP's will appear, including their email addresses, name, attendance status and Last updated.
