🎉 We’re introducing these updates to make school communication more seamless and trustworthy. These improvements help families and staff stay connected with messages and calls that feel more local and familiar.
What’s New
Local phone numbers
School calls and text messages will now come from local numbers (or ones within the same state). This helps families recognize that a message is from their school and builds trust in who it’s coming from.
Note: These numbers are assigned automatically by the system. Because they’re new, schools may want to send a few quick test messages or calls to staff members to identify their updated numbers.
If you’d like to know the new numbers assigned to your school or district, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager, Implementation Manager, or our Support team.
More consistent experience
Whether it’s a text, call, or announcement, all message types now follow the same reliable setup, so communication feels smoother for everyone. Each district will have one single local number for all 1-way communications:
- Voice Broadcast calls will come from a designated local number assigned to your district.
- Non-replyable SMS messages will also be sent from that same local number, helping families easily recognize and trust that messages are from their school.
Better reliability
We’ve strengthened our system behind the scenes to ensure messages and calls reach their destination faster and more reliably.
What to Expect
If you receive or send school announcements by SMS or phone, you may notice a new number on your caller ID or message thread. That’s completely normal; this just means your school’s communications are now being sent through a local number.
No action is needed. Everything about how you send, receive, or reply to messages remains the same.
How should I communicate this change with families?
Families may be initially confused when they start receiving messages from the district at a new number. We recommend sending an Announcement now to inform them of the upcoming change.
Your announcement can even be something simple like this:
Important Update: The district’s phone number is changing soon.
You’ll start seeing a local number when we call, but it’s still us.FAQs
Q: Will my messages still reach the same people?
A: Yes. Message delivery and contact lists work exactly as before; only the sender's number may appear differently.
Q: Should parents/guardians update saved contacts?
A: For easier recognition, we recommend saving the new numbers with the school’s name.
Q: Can families still reply to school messages?
A: Yes. If a message was replyable before, it still is.
Q: Will this update change the phone numbers used for 2-way texts and calls?
A: No. The phone numbers used for 2-way communication will remain the same.
Q: Why am I seeing a different phone number than before?
A: Because messages and calls now come from local area numbers, making them easier to identify and more trustworthy.
Q: Is there anything I need to do?
A: Nope. Everything continues to work as usual, just with a better, more local experience.
