Heads Up: The availability of this feature depends on how we sync your data. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager for more information
Notify is our optional mass notification system that allows for sending one-way messages, calls, and emails to recipients of an entire school(s), grade level(s), or district. They are designed for school or district-level communications, so they are limited to building-level or district-level administrators and their designees. Traditional teachers generally do not have access to Notify and should continue to use Announcements to communicate with families. This article will explain how to navigate the feature and send a Notify Message.
Navigating Notify
Sending a Notify Message
Navigating Notify
- Click the + Button.
- Click Notify.
- The Sent button will display messages that have already been sent, and Scheduled will show the messages that have been scheduled to go out in the future.
- The New Message button will bring you to a screen to begin a new Notify message.
- Filter your sent messages by selecting from the provided dropdowns, and then clicking Apply.
- Select a specific message that has been sent, to be direct to the Message Details.
- This report will show you the details of that message, as well as a detailed Report showing which recipients received or did not receive the message.
Sending a Notify Message
- Click on New Message.
- Select your Audience by checking the relevant boxes.
Note: District-level accounts will have the option to send to one, some, or all schools; school-level accounts will be limited in scope.
- Click Apply Contact Selections to see the current target audience count updates. This tells you the number of recipients to whom your message will be sent.
- Click Compose Message.
-
Complete the Message form - Create a Message Name, choose Non-Critical or Emergency, and select Text, Email, and/or Call to begin your message.
Pro-tips:
- Click “Which do I choose?” to learn when to send Emergency Messages.
- If you select Text as the only method, but the parent number is a non-textable or landline number, the message will fail over to an automated voice call.
- Note that texts will quickly reach most parents, generally, but Emails allow photos and links.
- If you select Call, you can record a verbal message or upload an audio file that will be sent by phone call to recipients.
- Translate Message to proceed.
- Click Save as Draft to make changes and send at a later time.
- Choose whether you want the message Translated for recipients or not.
Note: If left to auto-translate you will see a preview of the translated languages and how many recipients will receive the message in that language. If Translation is left toggled off, it will send the message as originally written, regardless of a recipient’s preferred language settings. If you save the message as a draft, the language preview tabs become editable, allowing you to customize the translated message.
- Select Delivery Options to proceed.
- Check the box relating to your Delivery Timings. You can send your message immediately, or schedule for a date and time of your choosing.
- Click Confirm to review your choices and prepare to send.
- Make sure all of your settings meet your needs. Go back to previous pages to make changes if necessary.
- Click Send.
Note: The button will say Schedule if a future date and time were selected.
Pro-tip: Messages that you send via Notify will not show up in your Connect Announcements feed or Engagement reports.
